The article "Continuous ultrasonic thickness measurement of the base metal and welds" has been published

In the journal "В мире НК" No. 4(66) (December 2014) published an article "Continuous ultrasonic thickness measurement of the base metal and welds" (authors: A. E. Bazulin, H. Benitez, V. V. Pronin, D. S. Tikhonov, O. O. Schnell)

The problems associated with selective thickness measurement by ultrasonic thickness gauges are considered. The areas of application of techniques and technologies with the use of phased antenna arrays are considered. The principles of using continuous ultrasonic thickness measurement of the base metal of pipelines, as well as measuring the profile of the bottom surface of welded joints of pipelines using antenna array technologies and the TOFD (time-of-flight diffraction) scheme are described. Calculations of the main parameters of the technology control schemes were carried out by the ray tube method using the verified CIVA software. Examples of the use and measurement results of technologies on test samples are given. Prospects for the development of methods using digital antenna focusing technology for visualization and measurement of the profile of the bottom surface are described.
